"WET HOT" HISTORY:

"Wet Hot American Summer" was filmed in 28 days, May & June 2000 in Pennsylvania.

Days after completion, it played to sold out crowds at all four screenings at the January 2001 Sundance Festival.

The film subsequently played at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, the Cleveland International Film Festival, the Athens (Greece) Film Festival, the Newport Film Festival, the New York Comedy Film Festival and the Beck's Incredible Film Festival in New Zealand.

USA Films (now Focus Features) released the movie theatrically in North America. It premiered in New York City on July 27, 2001 and subsequently played in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Boston, Washington, Seattle, San Francisco, Cleveland, Toronto, Salt Lake City, Austin, Athens GA, Chapel Hill NC, Champange IL, Lafayette IN, Abilene TX, Providence RI, Langley WA, Wilton NH, Madison WI, Bellingham WA, Tryon NC, Atlanta GA, Columbia MO, Minneapolis MN, Portland OR, and Nashville TN.

The DVD/VHS was released on January 15, 2002.

Midnight screenings began in New York and other cities August of 2003. Friday/Saturday midnight screenings at the Village East in Manhattan ran from October 03 to April of 04.
